The Foreigner plays August 21st thru September 6th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
The Foreigner
Written by Larry Shue
The scene is a fishing lodge in rural Georgia often visited by "Froggy" LeSeuer, a British demolition expert who occassionally runs training sessions at a nearby army base. This time "Froggy" has brought along a friend, a pathologically shy young man named Charlie who is overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. So "Froggy", before departing, tells all assembled that Charlie is from an exoctic foreign county and speaks no English. Once alone, the fun really begins. Charlie overhears more than he should--the evil plans of a sinister, two-faced minister and his redneck associate; the fact that the minister's pretty fiancee is pregnant; and many other damaging revelations made with the thought that Charlie doesn't understand a word being said. That he does fuels the nonstop hilarity of the play and sets up the wildly funny climax in which things go uproariously awry for the "bad guys" and the "good guys" emerge triumphant.
Grease playing July 31st thru August 17th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Book, Music and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey
Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959; duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin'", "It's Raining on Prom Night", "Alone at the Drive-In Movie" recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the world's most popular musicals.

It seems especially fitting that the first rock opera, created as a concept album at the end of the '60's, should have at its center a social and political rebel. Jesus' meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests, a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship. As His radical teachings are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ's final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart.
Originally produced on broadway by Robert Stigwood, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR opened on Broadway on October 12, 1971 and played for 720 performances.
Book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Marshall Barer

As much as anyone, Leiber and Stoller invented rock n roll and their music and their songs provide the basis for an electrifying entertainment that illuminates a golden age of American culture. In an idealized '50's setting, the classic themes of love won, lost and imagined blend with hilarious set-pieces and slice-of-life emotions. Leavened by the light-hearted determination never to take anything too seriously, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE isn't just great pop music-it's compelling musical theatre as well.
Just a few of the great musical numbers you'll hear include: Young Blood, Searchin', Trouble, Poison Ivy, On Broadway, Yakety Yak, Charlie Brown, Love Potion #9, Spanish Harlem, Stand by Me, and I'm a Woman.

A NEW DAY HAS BEGUN
A true musical theatre phenomenon, CATS opened at London's New London Theatre on May 11, 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years. CATS's London success was nearly matched on Broadway where it ran at the Wintergarden Theatre for just over 18 years. Based on the universally popular poetry of T.S. Eliot, CATS tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer.
