For decades, the Fort Peck Fine Arts Council has been the heart of cultural enrichment in Fort Peck, Montana, operating the Historic Fort Peck Summer Theatre. Every June through September, the theatre has been a beacon of live entertainment, captivating audiences and preserving the magic of the performing arts. However, as time marches on, so do the challenges faced by this beloved institution.
Since 1988, the theatre has relied on an aging air conditioning system to provide comfort to patrons during the warmer months. Yet, as the years have passed, this system has succumbed to wear and tear, now deemed unserviceable and on the brink of becoming completely inoperable. This predicament threatens not only the comfort of theatre-goers but also the viability of continuing performances in the space.
The Fort Peck Theatre, a cherished historical landmark, is undergoing a significant upgrade thanks to the support of the Montana Historic Preservation Grant program.
Project Overview:
Infrastructure Upgrade: Generational mechanical systems are being replaced with state-of-the-art heating and cooling systems.
Scope: Structural, architectural, and electrical enhancements will accompany the installation of the new mechanical systems.
Purpose: To provide efficient heating and cooling to the theatre while preserving its historical integrity.
Mechanical Systems:
Heating & Cooling: Utilizing air-cooled variable-refrigerant flow (VRF) technology with supplemental natural gas-fired heating.
Cooling Method: Air-cooled direct expansion (DX) equipment housed in a custom-grade mounted penthouse on the south side of the building.
Lobby Comfort: A natural gas-fired furnace combined with DX cooling will ensure optimal conditions in the lobby area.
